Robert Goodman has focused his practice on products liability litigation and other mass torts, insurance matters, and complex commercial disputes. He has represented a wide variety of clients, including both defendants and insurers in matters involving the full range of personal injury and mass tort matters, as well as pharmaceutical and medical device litigation and many years of experience in asbestos-related disputes. Mr. Goodman has been recognized by Chambers USA (2006-2017), which has observed that clients call on him “for all types of complex commercial litigation" and that Mr. Goodman is an “experienced litigator” and is “held in high regard by clients who value the consistent quality of his service.” He was also recognized as a “National Litigation Star” by Benchmark Litigation (2015).

Current and recent representations include pharmaceutical and medical device manufacturers, litigation on behalf of a leading property casualty insurer in connection with a major asbestos bankruptcy, clients in connection with personal injury and property damage claims arising out of the September 11 attacks, and a computer manufacturer in connection with litigation involving allegations of “repetitive stress injury” resulting from use of computer keyboards. Mr. Goodman’s practice has involved class actions, consolidations and multidistrict proceedings, including litigation in several well-known “high risk" jurisdictions.

In addition, Mr. Goodman served on the board of directors of Manhattan Legal Services from 2007 to 2018, and as chair from 2012 to 2017.
